Despite better understanding of
biology of angiogenesis and development of more effective angiogenic agents,
delivering these agents either with protein therapy or gene transfer remains
a challenge due to the high vascularity of the myocardium and rapid washout
of delivered agents. The Angiogenesi Research Center has several efforts
aimed at optimizing delivery specific to agents and device used, enabling
ideal condition for studied molecules to result in functionally significant
angiogenesis.
